I
grew up watching Warren Miller ski films - hell, MY DAD grew up
watching Warren Miller ski films, that's how long he has been in
the business! The business? He pretty much created his "business!"
On Film,
In Print is a collection of stories from Warren's career, as
well as little bits of humor from his many boating adventures in
the Pacific Northwest, and hilarious takes on everything from ski
resort life to air travel. Each story is peppered with Warren's
signature humor and an illustration drawn by Warren himself.
Some of my favorite
stories from this book: A Warm Winter Day, a tale of what Warren
was doing on December 7, 1941 (he was surfing Malibu all by himself);
So You Want To Go To College (self-explanatory); Anticipation (the
first snowfall of the season); About Chair Lifts (you'll never guess
where it actually originated!); Skid Chains (they go on your tires);
and my favorite, How To Move To Ski Country (another self-explanatory
but hilarious essay). |
