| DAMN!!! Ancient Snakerun in the woods of Huntington, West Virginia. It's all overgrown with trees and bushes and it looks like some sort of lost temple in the jungle (perhaps it actually is...) There I encountered some of the local teens who use the place to burn doobers rather than skate it. One said that his dad used to party there back in the 1970's, so this place is a 20-someodd-years of concrete skateboard history. It features a steep, flatbottomless half-pipe that flows down into a basin with a couple of small bumps in it. When I was there in the spring, it had rained a lot. While the upper section was skateable, the lower basin was basically a swamp. I half-expected Yoda to emerge from the bushes and steal my board like he did with Luke Skywalker's Light Saber. Neil Blender skates this place in the 1990 G&S video "Footage". Also, not shown in the photos is another section with some steep wallride-flatbank action goin' on. |
