| damn this
park is fun! the town said keep it under 4 feet (for insurance BS
purposes), and so Breaking
Ground Skateparks said "alrighty then...", and built
a burly swimming pool shallow end complete with a tad of vert, prizefighter-knuckles
pool coping, and even a little loveseat. the whole park flows like
hot butter, there's even a dirt gap about seven feet out and five
down from the bowl end into the paved area for all you little street
shits or even the daring vert dog. the coping is the big fatpipe
type that is fast grinding and not at all sticky like the softer
crap that should never be used, and the concrete surface is smooth
smooth smooth...these guys also had a hand in building the New England
masterpiece known as Newburyport,
so you know its pro! |

the DL: Free, helmets
posted but not enforced...it is directly behind an elementary school, so
you can't skate it until after school's out (2:30ish) during the school
year or else the kids will have their noses plastered to the windows and
won't learn their ABC's...actually, there is enough crap taped up in the
windows that no kid could even see out, but whatever... |

| DIRECTIONS:
Take the Newport-Jamestown bridge (Rt. 138) over to Jamestown Island, and
take the Concanicus Ave Exit. South on Concanicus by all the pretty sailboats
to Narragansett Ave. Right onto Narragansett and straight to Lawn Avenue.
North on Lawn Ave. to the Elementary School. Park and parking are both behind
the school. Enjoy!! |
