| Need to skate, but
the weather is crap during your Portland, OR visit? Go to The Department
of Skateboarding for a fun filled session! Although this is one of the slickest
indoor parks I have been to (seems like all the masonite had wax on it),
it is still a great indoor park. The street course has all the stuff you
would expect and there is a small bowl off to the side. The main feature
is the 6'-8' kidney pool w/ steel coping and tile. |

| Now, let me explain
about the "tile" that D.O.S. installed... it is NOT ceramic, but
4" vinyl squares-Damn, they are clever!!! They attached the tile with
adhesive and put one drywall screw though the middle of each tile. When
you hit it with your wheels, you still get the sound and feel of the real
stuff! The small bowl has a wall ride built into one end. Department of
Skateboarding is a "pay to skate per session" type-park. A full

DIRECTIONS:
From the I-5 North: Take the WEIDLER ST. exit- exit number 302A-
towards ROSE QUARTER/BROADWAY. Stay straight to go onto NE VICTORIA AVE.
Turn LEFT onto NE HANCOCK ST. The DEPT. is on the right
From I-5 South:
Take the exit- exit number 302A- towards ROSE QUARTER/CITY CENTER. Keep
LEFT at the fork in the ramp. Merge onto N VANCOUVER AVE. Turn LEFT onto
N WEIDLER ST. Turn LEFT onto N WILLIAMS AVE. Turn RIGHT onto NE HANCOCK
ST. The DEPT. is on the left. |
