Ramps Skatepark - Brooklyn, NYC |
|
|
| There's a lot of good
park crammed into the tight space over there at X-Ramps (another cheesy
name however!). The four foot spine mini is really smooth and fast with
good coping - might be one of my favorite mini ramps yet. It also has a
roll-through and a kinked verty extension. Six foot mini is tight-trannied
and quick. The street course is unique, with a funky design built to adapt
to the existing warehouse floor - It's flows more like a big ramp then a
trad street area. The roll in ramps down to the vert wall are built over
an existing steep concrete flat bank that might have been a nice feature
if left uncovered by ramps (at least a small part of it anyways). Despite
its tight confines, there is a good amount of flow and lines to be found
in the street course. Couple the roll-ins up onto the platform with the
vert wall and the super long super ledge and you're racing around that place
in no time! One downside is that this park can get crowded real quick, with
a grom-slalom situation occuring with as few as twenty people in the whole
park. There is a small beginner room with a couple of ramps to help alleviate
the crowds a bit. Helmets required, rather expensive ($12-$14) but worth
it to me to skate a fun little mini during the hellacious northeast winter...more
