Skate
Factory - Ghent, NY |
|
|
|
| "wow, that's a
pretty fun mini ramp setup at that park", you say, as you pack up the
car and drive to Ghent, NY for a skate roadtrip. Then you get there and
discover that in addition to the six bucks for the skate session they tack
on ANOTHER $15 for the annual insurance fee. That's $21 dollars for your
first session, dummy. It works for the local kids whose mothers pay their
fees, but its way too expensive for the roadtripping skater. This park is
part of a roller rink, so whaddaya expect? They wouldn't let the insurance
fee slide for even a ten minute skate session for this humble reporter,
(I offered to pay the $6) and the dweeb who shut me down was wearing rollerblades.
Lame. This park has quality ramps built by Suburban
Rails, but the management obviously have no clue how a authentic skatepark
should operate and cater to visiting skaters. Oh yeah, everybody in the
park has to wear helmets, including myself while I took these pictures quickly.
Meanwhile, next door in the roller rink the hokey pokey was done without
any safety gear... |
