Rattlesnake
Mountain Skatepark - Reno, NV |
 |
|
| Rattlesnake
Mountain Skatepark (aka: Mira Loma Skatepark), is a odd mix of some cool
designs and piss-poor concrete finishing. The word I got from the locals
is a local skater designed the park a few years ago. Many design changes
and several different contractors later, you have the final result. 98%
of Nevada skateparks are falling apart due to poor construction. Unions
have the power in Nevada, so a different union will handle each construction
phase. The Rattlesnake Mtn park is about a year old, but from the look of
the concrete, it looks 50 years old! |
 |
| The park
does have some good features. The snake run is very cool and the street
area is adequate and the park does have a few bowls and a pool, but the
bowls and pool has major flaws. First, the bowls trannys are kinked and
the corners in the square bowl are sunken. The crete is falling apart below
the coping on a few of the bowls. Major cracks are forming due to settling
throughout the park. |

the waterfall in
the pool - super steep!
|
The pool...
well it is deep and fast (5 ft in the shallow and 9 ft in the deep), but
the waterfall is super steep... too steep to drop in from the shallow and
hit head on. You need to hit the wall over the waterfall or drop into the
deep end. It does have a few kinks, but nothing too serious. A couple of
holes were created from those damn paperboys' bike pegs! The pool does have
real tile, but sports steel coping.
