EMB,
Love
Park, Burnside,
and FDR,
this place is the newest American skateboard mecca. Huge 24ft full
pipe, with an eleven foot bowl on one end, and a combi-bowl of 11,
10, and five foot bowls on the other end. Snakerun flows from the
street area and forks at the end into nine foot deep end and four
foot kiddie end. The street area features a glut of ledges, rails,
and banks, as well as the stacked LEGO ledge pile. the wooden vert
ramp is smooth and fast, but mainly used by the tykes for beginner
practice - understandable given the other more amazing terrain.
This park is free, no pads, and here's the best part: OPEN 24 HOURS!!
It's like Las Vegas, just show up whenever and skate until you pass
out! |

| I showed
up at 1 AM on a Thursday morning and there were at least 200 kids skating
and biking and blading this park-on a school night! The cops showed up as
I did, but basically they were just there to say hi. There were several
boomin stereo systems wreaking havoc and partying. |
| |
| I skated
until near sunrise, passed out in the back of my Crown Vic in the parking
lot, then got up at ten, skated some more and then left for STL. This park
is near perfect-no rules and there aren't any neighbors to piss off. However,
there also isn't a store in the immediate neighborhood yet, so come prepared |

| DIRECTIONS:
Take I-64 to I-65 in the middle of Louisville. Head south on I-65 (you will
see the lights of the park if it's after dark), and take the FIRST southbound
exit (Exit 136). Bear right at the end of the ramp, and turn right onto
Liberty. take Liberty to Witherspoon, bang a left and head north on Witherspoon
until you see the park on your left & rip that pipe... |
