| Unless
you are a young grom or do not skate, then you wouldn't know who
Alan Gelfand is. Allen's nickname is "Ollie"... and
yes the trick is named after him! I had the pleasure of meeting
Allen and skating his bowl during my Florida trip in April 2004.
Alan is a super cool guy and it was a pleasure to meet him. If
you are in S. Florida, hook up and skate his bowl. Sessions go
down several nights per week. All is asked is that you sign a
waiver, make a small cash donation to help with the overhead, wear
your pads, respect the property and no drugs or alcohol are allowed. |

| On
to the bowl... it was a vert ramp, with a 10'5 section and a 8'
section. A year or so ago, it was bowled in. Built by Team Pain,
this thing was done right. Alan and crew does a great job of keeping
it clean and the skatelite is scoured with a scotchbrite pad regularly
for a grippy finish. The only slick spot I found is on the hip.
Team Pain had to use masonite in that section due to the angles.
Regular skatelite kept cracking, but the masonite is holding up.
Just be careful when skating that section. |
