| Montrose,

|
| It's hard
enough to get one single photo of Montrose because of it's funky layout,
so arriving at dusk doesn't help either. But trust me, this park is the
sickness. Overall, it's got a U shape, with a kiddie area at one end and
a bowled end at the other. In the middle are some really unique obstacles
like the slanted oval platform, the slanted spine and the donut-a strange
concrete innertube-type object. Lastly, on the path running behind the park
between the kiddie end and the bowled-in end is a metal bench plopped atop
a small mound that is good for those benchy tricks. This park is free, no
pads, and open till dark. Scroll down for more pictures and directions. |

| DIRECTIONS:
Take Highway 50 (AKA Skatepark Row) into Montrose. At the center of town,
where 50 makes the 90 degree turn, pay attention. If you are coming from
the east (Gunnison), stay straight (don't turn north on 50). If you are
coming from the West (Grand Junction), bang a right at the center of town
when 50 turns left.) Follow that road west for a block or two, and turn
south onto Rio Grande. Follow Rio Grande south over the RR tracks to the
Montrose Activity Center, and turn right at the MAC onto Apollo. Follow
Apollo around to Baldridge Park, and the skatepark is located in the park
on the left. Ollie the donut. |
