Thursday, November 11, 2004 8:32 PM:

Yesterday I drove down to Milford, Connecticut to check out the latest park creation from Breaking Ground Skateparks. I spent a good 6 or 7 hours observing them as they worked, pouring the platforms around the park. I also chatted concrete with Kyle, the rep from Beard Concrete, who was supplying BG with their stuff. I helped out when and where I could, hosing off tools and even troweling a little bit for my first time (on a manual pad- something that I couldn't mess up too bad!)

I've spent the better part of three years bitching and barfing about nearly 200 skateparks on this site, yet I had never spent a day at a skatepark job site - now I have - IT'S HARD WORK! The BG crew worked past dark, illuminating the park with flashlights, truck lights, bobcat lights, and headlamps, continuing to trowel the decks until they were smoother than a baby's ass. Some general contractor who doesn't skate would probably have gone over it once and called it a day before sunset, but BG put in the extra effort to make the entire park perfect, and it shows. I was able to sweep up the bowl and take a couple of runs, and that crete is sweet! (I was scared shitless though that I would launch my board into the fresh pour!) It was a very cool experience - Thanks to Sam, Lenny, Tom, Jeff, Noah and Gump!

Thursday, November 11, 2004 7:06 PM: "Parks and Recreation staff went out there trying to educate people, who crumpled up the handouts and threw them on the ground, then started skating without helmets."

Sunday, October 31, 2004 8:16 AM: Well, resorts in California, Utah, and Colorado are already open, most with kick-ass bases already established due to multiple early-season dumps...and by the way its been raining here in NY...this is going to sound gay but Fuel TV has been fueling my preseason couch dreams...it seems like they finally got it right with the "TV & board sports" thing: Bluetorch was their gift hint that they were onto something, but then they fucked it up with 54321, which was a stupid waste of time and money save for keeping Leeann in front of the camera as much as possible...
damnnnnnnnnnnnnn leeeeeeeeeeaaaaannnnnnnnnnn
Now this Fuel TV is worth the 6 extra bucks a month on the cable bill...they show famous and not-so-famous skate and snow vids all the time, plus some pretty sick original production content...and oh yes, some super funny self-advertisements...

Tuesday, October 26, 2004 7:31 AM: Burton Snowboards has a new custom board design program called Series 13, where you can choose the guts of your board from selections from their existing lines, then customize that shit with a number of graphic and color options. It ain't cheap, but if you got the cash you can sport some flash...visit Burton's Series 13 page for more info...

Friday, October 22, 2004 12:41 PM: My god, this show is hilarious, no matter what you think of MTV and all its requisite bullshit...

Sunday, October 17, 2004 6:37 PM: Yesterday I took an upstate NY roadtrip...drove up to Saratoga to find the skatepark closed, but the sick bowl

was dry as a bone. It was too good to resist, so I poached that bitch for 'bout a half hour, then jetted. Drove back south to Albany and

The Shelter Skatepark, where along with a nice indoor park, they have the place decorated with cool art up the yang! After, I cruised over to South Troy to try and find the Burden Pond pool, but it was raining and I had no luck. Headed down to Kingston and TSX Skatepark for the Bodega demo for a little bit, where there was some serious ripping going on. Lastly, I hit the Poughkeepsie pool for a quickie before heading home for the night...and how was your weekend?
Friday, October 15, 2004 2:46 PM: I just watched the new Burton Snowboards vid, The Process 3. How was it? Read the review here...

Thursday, October 14, 2004 2:28 PM: There's a campaign up and runnin' to save the Carlsbad, CA skatepark (the original one not the newer one), which was built in 1976 and is apparently the oldest skatepark still in existence in America...
